Moving Adult Sites to HTTPS

The Free Speech Coalition convened Firefox, the Center for Democracy & Technology, Chaturbate, and WIRED to make the case for migrating adult sites off HTTP. The panel covered what unencrypted traffic exposes (credentials, dates of birth, location, and every page a visitor loads) and what a large migration actually costs. I walked through moving wired.com to HTTPS by default: the risk to ad deliverability, the search traffic dip that recovered in four weeks, and the performance headroom that HTTPS opened up.
